When Khem Bohora first set out to create his own business, Everest Drain and Plumbing Inc., few people gave him a hand. He heard “no” far more often than “yes,” and it seemed like nobody but himself believed in his idea. But no matter how bleak the days seemed, Khem’s passion for creating his own plumbing and drain company was strong enough to keep going. Things changed when he called on friends and family for support.
“They really helped me,” he says, noting that his friends and family pitched in with financial and moral support. He also put in long, hard days to build his reputation.
From there Khem slowly grew his fleet of trucks, although he still has a soft spot for the first one he bought. “I started with one truck,” he recalls, “then within a month I bought a second truck, then a third, fourth, fifth truck.”
What Khem needed most to get Everest Drain and Plumbing going was for someone to take a chance on him, and that’s what he got. And the kindness of friends and family isn’t something he’ll soon forget because he knows first-hand just how important their support is.
